| Ingredients: |
Red wine from Orvieto (Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo grapes). “Visciolo” cherries, sugar, alcohol, water. |
Sensorial Characteristics
| Sight: |
Intense ruby red with purple tints. Limpid. |
| Smell: |
Very intense, persistent, fine; fruity, with a strong feel of “Visciola”. Also hugely perceptible notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, wild strawberry, plum, toasted almonds, withered rose and pansy, red berry fruits jam. |
| Flavour: |
Dry, acid, with a touch of tannic. Warm, mellow and rounded, very intense and persistent; quite balanced and fine. |
| Final feelings: |
Liqueur to be considered a dessert wine. It leaves a lingering, warm, robust, tasty and pleasant flavour in the mouth due to the fruits and well-balanced alcoholic components. Wide fruity notes lead to wild berry jam and distinct “Visciola” flavour. |
| Serving: |
Ideally served at a temperature of 16-18 C°, Sollucchero can be enjoyed simply as a liqueur, perhaps shared with friends in front of an open fire, or as a dessert wine for which it is particularly suited to dark chocolate, puddings and tarts, fruit compotes, or as an accompaniment to cakes and biscuits such as tozzetti or cantucci.
It is also a perfect compliment for cheese especially the rich, blue variety such as Gorgonzola, Roquefort or Stilton. |
A portion of the production is aged in oak barrique, leading to the Riserva, available in 375 ml bottles. |
